Home Improvements for Council Homes
08.07.2009
Maintenance work on council homes in Pontardawe, Ystalyfera and Rhiw Fawr is underway.

42 houses in Gwyrdd Goed and Brynawel in Pontardawe and Pen Yr Allt, Brynygrug and Min Yr Afon in Ystalyfera and Heol Y Goedlan in Rhiwfawr are benefiting from major rewiring works to their electrical systems.
The £75,000 project is funded by the Council's Housing Capital Programme, set up to pay for essential major repairs and improvements to ensure that tenants live in a safe, secure and healthy environment.
The 10 week contract, being carried out by Cimla based company A & R Electrical (Wales) Ltd, will involve replacing all electrical wiring, fittings and consumer units.
The work will ensure that the people living in the properties have a safe and modern electrical system within their homes. It also reinforces the council's plans to regenerate its valley communities.
Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Ali Thomas, said, "This work will provide essential maintenance so that the families living in these properties have a safe and modern electricity supply.
"Not only will it improve life for residents but it will support the local economy as well."
