Two Visitor Centres

Afan Forest Park is home to two Visitor Centres, Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre and Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre.


Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre

The Visitor Centre which is run by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council acts as the ‘hub’ to the Forest Park. Offering facilities such as; training/conference room, campsite (toilets and showers), café (quality food at a reasonable cost), gift shop, bike wash, cycle hire, two Beamer Trampers (Shop Mobility) and the South Wales Miners’ Museum. The centre also includes an information service, a first aid station and base for the Forest Park Rangers.

From the Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre you can start the popular ‘Penhydd’ and ‘The Wall’ mountain bike trails, Nine circular scenic walks, access the Coed Morgannwg Walk, a family puzzle trail, a 26 point orienteering course and access to bridle paths.

The Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre and surrounding area plays host to regular visits from schools whereby Forestry Commission Wales provides an educational visit service.

How to get there:

Situated on the A4107 - follow the road from the M4, Junction 40 for about 6 miles. Look out for the signs for Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre.

Over the August bank holiday weekend a local amateur radio group set up their equipment in the Forest Park Centre to transmit to other amateur radio operators all over the world. For this event Afan Forest Park was issued with its own call sign G.B ZERO A.F.P. they managed to speak to other operators in Newfoundland the Azores, America, Morocco, Russia, Denmark, Japan, Germany with success. We hope to repeat this even at least twice next year.

Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre and Ponds

Set amidst the beautiful mountain bike scenery of Afan Forest Park, the ponds are perfect for canoeing and fishing.

The newly opened Mountain Bike Centre is based at the start of two world class mountain bike trails, ‘Skyline’ and ‘White’s Level’. The Centre also has a fully stocked bike shop, showers, campsite, jet wash and a café that provides quality food and service.

There is also a Visit Wales graded caravan and camp site

How to get there:

From Junction 40 on the M4, follow the brown and white signs for Afan Forest Park, then pass Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre and head towards Cymmer, take a sharp left turn towards Glyncorrwg.

During the winter period the Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre campsite will be closed. However, Camping is still available at Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre. For further information contact either centre
