South Wales Adult Protection Forum
This web-site
contains the South Wales Adult Protection Forum’s Inter Agency
Policy and Guidance for responding to Alleged Abuse and
Inappropriate Care of Vulnerable Adults in South Wales. The policy
was revised in 2004 and implemented in January 2005.
The procedures document is bilingual
and is available in English and Welsh. A copy of the procedures is
also available in Braille and in audio versions – copies of which
are available from your local authority Social Services department.
A bilingual version of the document will also be available soon in
a CD format.
Section 9 of the Policy and Procedures: Responding to Abuse: The
Inter-Agency ‘Referral and Decision Making process’ provides
specific guidance for practitioners and managers involved in the
care, support and protection of vulnerable adults.
Examples of the standardised inter-agency
documentation (VA1, 2 & 3) used by Social Services, Health
sector agencies and South Wales Police to facilitate the ‘referral’
and ‘decision-making’ processes are also provided. It should be
noted that other caring/support agencies in the voluntary and
independent sector can also utilise the VA1 form to make
‘referrals’ to the Social Services.
Contact details of all Adult Protection Co-ordinators and
Designated Lead Managers in each statutory agency can be found in
Section 16 of the document. Additionally, contact details of other
national organisations committed to the care, support and
protection of Vulnerable Adults can also be found in this
section.
