It’s not surprising that this part of Wales is a haven for walkers. Over two-thirds of our area is made up of beautiful countryside – from forested hills to river valleys.

No matter what your age or fitness, whether you want to spend an hour or a whole day walking, we’ve something for you. From waterfall walks and towpaths, to the seafront promenade and countryside rights ofway.

Iamge of People Walking by a StreamWe’re not known as Waterfall Country for nothing. Nowhere in Wales will you find such amazing waterfalls than here in Neath Port Talbot. And what better time to explore the waterfalls than in the spring, when the winter rain has swelled the rivers? Take a trip to the Vale of Neath, Melincourt, Aberdulais Falls, Cwm Du Glen or Nedd Fechan and discover them for yourself. One of our star waterfalls is featured in the back ofthis leaflet – Melincourt. Here the water crashes 80ft to the bottom of the valley floor. Summer

Image of people hikingHow about a leisurely stroll along the promenade at Aberavon Beach? There are dedicated walking and cycling lanes offering spectacular views over Swansea Bay coastline.  Aberavon also has one of Wales’ longest sandy beaches as well as an aqua splash play pool and adventure playground. The promenade and its visitor facilities make it an ideal place for all ages to take a walk throughout the year.

Autumn

Afan Forest Park is a beautiful place whatever the season. But in the autumn it becomes one ofthe most dramatic landscapes in Wales. The Forest Park, known as ‘Little Switzerland’ to locals, offers incredible views over the Gower Peninsula, Lundy Islandand the Brecon Beacons. Winter
