Following the success of Workways, the Neath Port Talbot
Transitional Employment Initiative, funding has been secured to
provide over 9000 economically inactive and long term unemployed
people across South West Wales with back to work support.
Led by Neath Port Talbot Council in collaboration with
Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and City and County of Swansea, the
South West Workways project is backed with almost £17 million from
the European Social Fund through the Welsh Assembly Government.
The £25 million project will tackle the barriers that prevent
individuals from accessing the labour market before matching local
people with businesses, helping them gain the vital experience
needed to find long term employment.
Aims
To assist the transition into sustainable employment by
overcoming barriers to work, whilst exploring various supporting
agencies, training and work opportunities.
Workways will provide:
Co-ordinated Employment Gateway - Ensuring
access to all available support
Effective Mentor Support - Dedicated one to
one advice and guidance
Job Focused Training - Identifying specific
courses and qualifications
Employer Liaison - Supporting employers to
employ local people
Return to Work Support - All aspects of
jobsearch techniques and Work Tasters
