Residential care homes in Neath Port Talbot are taking part in an inter-home quiz.

Councillor Derek Vaughan

Preliminary rounds are underway and the final will take place early June (5th) at the Princess Royal Theatre in Port Talbot.

Organised by Neath Port Talbot Council, the first ever inter-home quiz is proving to be a big success.

All nine residential homes have entered a team and are striving to qualify for the later rounds.

Competition is not just between the teams but between the supporters as well. It has become an enjoyable social occasion and a special plaque will be awarded to the winning team which the residential home can then keep for a year.

Neath Port Talbot Council aims to provide a caring environment in its residential homes and encourages residents to join in activities which are designed to help them keep mobile, mentally alert, self confident and socially interactive.

Inter-home competitions are very popular with residents - the Neath Port Talbot Care Home Garden competition will run for the third time this summer and goes from strength to strength.

Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Derek Vaughan, said, "The first Neath Port Talbot inter-home quiz has been extremely well received. All of the homes have participated with huge enthusiasm so far and I am sure that they will be looking forward to the final.

"Activities such as this reflect the council's commitment to the vision of an improved quality of life, health and well being for everyone in our communities."
