Community Arts

Our vision:

Neath Port Talbot Community Arts Development service aims to raise the profile of the arts by encouraging and nurturing creative arts activities that bring people together in their communities and give people the opportunity to gain new skills and experiences.

By doing this we hope to:

  • Change lives
  • Release potential
  • Nurture creativity
  • Support learning
  • Promote inclusiveness
  • Target social and economic need
  • Combat social apathy
  • Promote civic engagement

How and Why the Arts?

The arts are fundamental, they are part and parcel of daily life, and we are all in some way touched by them, whether this is seeing a painting we like in an office, being lifted by a favourite song on the radio or relaxing watching a TV or a film. The majority of the time we are not aware of the impact the arts have on our lives but in seeking a connection they can help us to express ourselves, escape from mundane tasks, communicate with others and develop a sense of identity.

The Arts encompass, but are not exclusively the following forms:

Dance, Drama, Fine art, 3D art, Sculpture, Music, Literacy, Poetry, Storytelling, Illustration, photography,

Glass, Circus, Film, Radio and Television and Animation
