Welsh Assembly Government - Protect Yourself

A Carer is a person who provides unpaid help on a regular basis to a relative, neighbour or friend who is unable to manage at home due to sickness, age or disability. These web pages will inform you of any assistance that is available through Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council and will also pinpoint other organisations that will be able to help.

Carers can be…

  • Adults or children

  • Looking after a child with special needs or an adult

  • Caring for someone elderly and frail or
Caring for someone with a physical disability or
Caring for someone with learning disabilities or
Caring for someone with mental health problems

  • Caring alone or sharing the task with others

  • Sharing a home with the person you care for or living somewhere else.

Carers may help with things like dressing or bathing, as well as giving all kinds of practical and emotional support.
