Libraries now have something for everyone, books, information, music, films, and computers with free access to the Internet and other online services

Neath Port Talbot Library and Information Services provides a range of services to the local community through our network of 18 libraries and 2 mobile libraries. Our major libraries are at Neath, Port Talbot and Pontardawe.

Jasper FfordeMeet a Bestseller this summer
at Neath Port Talbot Libraries

This Summer Neath Port Talbot Libraries have lined up a fantastic programme of author events for you. Starting on June 5th at Port Talbot Library the literary phenomenon that is Jasper Fforde will be visiting us for a memorable afternoon where you will discover all there is to know about Literary Detectives, the Nursery Crime Squad and the mysterious kidnapping of Jane Eyre.

Andrew Taylor

The following week, we celebrate the best of crime writing with the brilliant Andrew Taylor, bestselling author of The American Boy, Fallen Angel and lots more will be at Sandfields Library on June 10th.

This is followed by a hilarious encounter with the Greek Gods as they settle down to sharing a flat in London in the funny new book from debut author Marie Phillips. Marie will be at Taibach Library on June 17th.

Then it is off to the Middle Ages with four of the best medieval mystery writers in Britain today – Michael Jecks, Philip Gooden, Susanna Grergory and Bernard Knight are the Medieval Murderers and they will be at Cwmafan Library on June 26th.

To finish the season’s programme we have a visit from Ray French, bestselling author of All This is Mine and Going Under. Ray will be at Baglan Library on July 1st.

And finally…look out for the first ever Literature Festival Day at the Margam Festival on Sunday July 13th where there will be guest authors, including the brilliant Barbara Erskine and RJ Ellory and the official longlisting announcement of the prestigious Dylan Thomas Prize.

 

National Year of Reading

National Year of Reading 2008 logoThis year World Book Day had even greater significance with it marking the launch of the National Year of Reading in Neath Port Talbot. The Year will feature some of the most popular bestselling authors in the country. Authors such as Catrin Collier, Bernard Knight, Lionel Fanthorpe, Jasper Fforde, Michael Jecks, Mavis Nicholson and Andrew Taylor will all be visiting libraries in the coming months. Look out for a Meet the Author event at your library.

At the Margam Festival on July 13th there will be a featured day for readers which will include a major event around the Dylan Thomas Prize and will include a range of well known authors.

There will be a libraries tent again this year at the Pontardawe Festival, August 15th – 17th and this will include some fantastic storytelling, performance poetry and much, much more.

The National Year of Reading will be an amazing one in Neath Port Talbot.
